Guest Biography

Ruben Santiago-Hudson is an award-winning actor, writer, director, and producer known for his impactful work on stage, screen, and television. He directed the Broadway productions of Skeleton Crew, earning four Tony nominations, and his autobiographical Lackawanna Blues, which won multiple awards and made him the first person in Broadway history to write, direct, and star in a play. His production of Jitney won the Tony Award for Outstanding Revival, and he adapted August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom for Netflix. Ruben’s notable Broadway roles include Seven Guitars, Jelly’s Last Jam, and Gem of the Ocean. On screen, Ruben starred in the HBO film Lackawanna Blues, earning Emmy, Golden Globe, and NAACP Image Awards, and recently appeared in CBS’s East New York. His film credits include American Gangster, Shaft, and Selma, and he portrayed Dr. Percy Julian in PBS’s Forgotten Genius. He’s had prominent TV roles on Castle, The West Wing, Law & Order, and more. Ruben’s numerous accolades include Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle Awards, along with honorary doctorates from Wayne State and Buffalo State Universities.

Keith Alexander as a young boy had dreams of becoming a disc jockey and eventually became music director, afternoon jock, and leader of the launch team for his native city’s new station WGCI. His baritone delivery has also resounded over the airwaves of Disco 92 WKTU, 98.7 KISS-FM, former jazz station WRVR, Inner City Broadcasting’s WBLS in the Big Apple, Clear Channel’s Jammin’ 105, and Infinity’s New MIX 102.7.

G. Keith is also the host of “What’s Hot! HarlemAmerica with G. Keith Alexander”, the first podcast hosted on the HarlemAmerica Digital Network. He talks with a great variety of influential black voices in the entertainment industry like Gloria Gaynor, Keith David, Dionne Warwick, Darrin Henson, Phylicia Rashad, and more.
