Guest Biography
As HBA’s Executive Director, I have continuously advocated for Harlem’s small businesses and sought to provide Black entrepreneurs with cutting-edge instruction and one-on-one technical assistance from subject matter experts. A life-long Harlem resident from a politically active household, I have always been deeply committed to community empowerment, fighting for homeownership for Harlemites, high-quality schools for Harlem’s children, and economic opportunities for its entrepreneurs. I have used the skills learned during my employment at Union Carbide, Revlon International, the NYC Housing Partnership, and the Harlem Commonwealth Council to build powerful alliances to create environments and opportunities that produce successful Black entrepreneurs and jobs for Harlem residents. I continue to pursue a Black economic empowerment agenda by creating, sustaining and growing Black businesses. Through the development of a strong economic base, we can significantly reduce racial disparities in wealth, education, health, and policing. Real social justice cannot be achieved without economic equity.

Born and raised in Chicago, G. Keith Alexander as a young boy had dreams of becoming a disc jockey and eventually became music director, afternoon jock, and leader of the launch team for his native city’s new station WGCI. His baritone delivery has also resounded over the airwaves of Disco 92 WKTU, 98.7 KISS-FM, former jazz station WRVR, Inner City Broadcasting’s WBLS in the Big Apple, Clear Channel’s Jammin’ 105, and Infinity’s New MIX 102.7.
G. Keith is also the host of “What’s Hot! HarlemAmerica with G. Keith Alexander”, the first podcast hosted on the HarlemAmerica Digital Network. He talks with a great variety of influential black voices in the entertainment industry like Gloria Gaynor, Keith David, Dionne Warwick, Darrin Henson, Phylicia Rashad, and more.
